IFA HISTORY

• 1924 - In Dec. 4, 1924 the “Great German Radio Exhibition” was established in the radio industry building located in the West-end of Berlin, where the Current Berlin exhibition center still stands.
• 1926 - On Sept. 3, 1926 The Berlin Radio Tower joined the exhibition grounds with live first radio-reporting to the public.
• 1928 – During this radio exhibition the first black and white television broadcast in the world occurred from here in Berlin.
• 1930 – During the opening of this exhibition the guest speaker was the special scientist Albert Einstein.
• 1939 – The first television broadcast with colored pictures was showed during that exhibition.
• 1950 – 1970 due to the division of Berlin after WWII the radio show was held in Düsseldorf.
• 1970s – 2005 – Since 1971 the “International Radio Exhibition" as the (IFA) was opened in Berlin again at the Exhibition center - Berlin Messe. The VCR and remote control systems were shown for the first time. The IFA was held every 2 years.
• 2006 – Since 2006 September event of IFA in Berlin the event was held on annual bases. In addition to innovations from the radio and television sectors, the telecommunication industry joined the show in 2006.
• 2009 – During the 2009 IFA show, the “IFA Artist Award” was established to support more artistic flare for electronic product designs.
