Test week: MAN Lion's City 12E

This week we had the new MAN intercity bus in operation. The MAN Lions City 12E is purely electric.

After a short briefing, our bus driver Andrea went straight on her first trip. Many of our drivers have already gained experience with electrically powered buses, so that the changeover no longer posed any major problems.

The comfort in a new MAN bus leaves nothing to be desired. The generous space concept allows a high level of comfort for up to 88 passengers (seated and standing).

The test week was very promising. Both drivers and passengers responded with great interest to the vehicle. In regional regular service this bus can be used well with a maximum distance of 250km.

Here are the key technical data of the bus:

  • Power: 160 kw (220 hp)
  • Average distance: 270km (without heating and air conditioning)
  • Average charging time: <3 hours

  • Seats & standing room: 88
  • Length: 12,2m
  • Width: 2,55m
  • Height: 3,32m

The test of a completely new electric series model is another step in our sustainability strategy. The aim is to gradually convert the vehicle fleet away from Diesel engines. In the past 3 years, we have already tested various electric line bus models - from futuristic to retrofitting. With the first electric cab in early 2022, we are already making our experiences in the daily practice of passenger transportation as well as charging strategy.
